Read Goldilocks and The Three Bears Online
Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks. She had golden, curly hair, and she loved to walk, look at flowers, and explore everything she found around her. One day, while walking through the forest, she slowly wandered farther and farther away from the path until she reached a place she did not know.
After walking for a while, she saw a lovely little house among the trees. It had a small door, clean windows, and smoke coming out of the chimney. Goldilocks came closer with curiosity and looked around.
—What a pretty little house —she said—. I wonder who lives here.
She knocked on the door once.
Knock, knock.
But no one answered.
She knocked again and waited for a moment. Since everything was quiet, she gently pushed the door. The door was open, so she stepped inside carefully.
Inside the house, everything was neat and tidy. There was a table, some chairs, a soft rug, and a small kitchen. On the table, she saw three bowls of porridge. One was big, one was medium-sized, and one was small.
Goldilocks walked closer and looked at the bowls carefully.
—Oh, this smells so good —she said—. I am a little hungry.
First, she tasted the porridge from the big bowl.
—Ouch, this is too hot —she said, quickly pulling the spoon away.
Then she tasted the porridge from the medium-sized bowl.
—Hmm… this is not as hot, but I still do not like it very much.
Finally, she tasted the porridge from the small bowl.
—This one is perfect! —she said happily.
And because she liked it so much, she ate it all.
After eating, Goldilocks wanted to sit down for a while. In front of the table, there were three chairs. One was big, one was medium-sized, and one was small.
First, she climbed onto the big chair.
—This chair is too tall —she said.
Then she sat on the medium-sized chair.
—This one is too wide for me.
Then she tried the small chair.
—This chair is perfect! —she said with a smile.
But she started rocking back and forth too much, and suddenly…
Crack!
The small chair broke.
Goldilocks opened her eyes wide.
—Oh no… I think I broke it —she whispered.
Since she was feeling a little tired, she decided to walk around the house. She went upstairs and reached a bedroom where there were three beds. One was big, one was medium-sized, and one was small.
First, she lay down on the big bed.
—This bed is too hard —she said.
Then she tried the medium-sized bed.
—This bed is too soft.
After that, she lay down on the small bed.
—Oh, this bed is just perfect —she said with a smile.
The pillow was soft, the blanket was warm, and the mattress was comfortable. Since she had walked a lot, Goldilocks closed her eyes and, in just a few minutes, fell fast asleep.
But the house was not empty. Three bears lived there: a big bear, a medium-sized bear, and a little bear. That morning, they had made porridge for breakfast, but because it was too hot, they decided to go for a walk in the forest while it cooled down.
After a while, the three bears returned to their house.
As soon as they came in, the big bear looked at the table and said in a loud voice:
—Someone has tasted my porridge!
The medium-sized bear looked at her bowl and said:
—Someone has tasted my porridge too!
Then the little bear looked at his bowl and cried out sadly:
—Someone has tasted my porridge and eaten it all!
The three bears were very surprised and looked around.
Then they went toward the chairs.
The big bear said:
—Someone has been sitting in my chair!
The medium-sized bear said:
—Someone has been sitting in my chair too!
And the little bear looked at his little chair and said, almost crying:
—Someone has been sitting in my chair and broke it!
The bears began to feel worried. Then they decided to go upstairs to the bedroom.
When they entered, the big bear looked at his bed and said:
—Someone has been lying in my bed!
The medium-sized bear said:
—Someone has been lying in my bed too!
And the little bear looked at his little bed and shouted:
—Someone has been lying in my bed, and she is still here!
Goldilocks woke up when she heard those voices. She opened her eyes and saw the three bears looking at her. First she saw the big bear, then the medium-sized bear, and then the little bear.
Frightened, she jumped out of bed.
—Oh! —she cried—. I am sorry!
Goldilocks quickly got off the bed, ran to the bedroom door, rushed down the stairs, and ran out of the house as fast as she could. She ran through the forest without stopping until she found the safe path again.
As she ran, she thought about what had happened.
—I should not have gone into a house that was not mine —she said to herself—. I should not have touched other people’s things or stayed there as if nothing was wrong.
From that day on, Goldilocks learned an important lesson. She understood that we should not enter other people’s homes without permission, and we should not use things that do not belong to us. She also learned that curiosity can get us into trouble when it is not guided by respect.
As for the three bears, they fixed the little bear’s chair, made more porridge, and continued living peacefully in their little house in the forest.
And Goldilocks never forgot that we must respect what belongs to others and ask permission before entering or taking something.
